Thinking about how Dr. Doom is mostly used now as this badass anti-hero taken to the extreme and wondering when that shift started to happen. The earliest I can think of is the early 90s issue of What If The Fantastic Four's Second Child Had Lived where in the first story he helps Franklin and opposes the evil creature antagonist of the story. It reminded me a lot of how Hickman wrote him decades later (which coincidentally also involves Reed and Sue's second child and meeting with Doom in secret).
