Giving modern Superman another chance. I gotta say, the first two issues of Superman by Josh Williamson is pretty dang good -- I expected to like the beautiful art by Jamal Campbell, you can see that right away, but the story is actually getting me hooked which hasn't happened in a long time. So far, it's pretty easy to understand if you have any familiarity with the 90s version of Superman. No real spoilers to follow, just the set-up -- Lois and Clark are married and at the Daily Planet, Lois is interim EIC while Perry is away, and Lex is in jail.
I was actually wondering if they went back to 90s continuity or something, but then in #2, we see Superman has two adult children, so I'm not sure where we are. But you don't need a ton of backstory to understand the plot, that's something that Williamson has done very well. It feels like the classic Post-Crisis Superman to me through two issues.
But I'm curious and want to see the deal on the kids in case something happens that you need some basic knowledge for -- is there a guide on Superman continuity up to Dawn of DC? I'm not looking to spend a fortune buying trades covering the years I missed. A video would be awesome, but an article is great too. Thanks in advance!
