Time to journey back to September of 1974, as we revisit images of Evel Knievel, Richard Harris and Billie Jean King, and stories like “Battlefield Graveyard”, “A Small Place in Hell”, and “Bat-Murderer”!

2nd - President Gerald Ford signs Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), which sets minimum standards for pension plans
 
8th - Motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel attempts to jump the Snake River Canyon in a steam-powered rocket but fails, escaping with minor injuries
 
8th - President Gerald Ford pardons former President Richard Nixon of all federal crimes
 
14th - Charles Kowal discovers Leda, 13th satellite of Jupiter
 
16th - Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) begins regular rail service crossing under the San Francisco Bay, through the Transbay Tube
 
16th - President Gerald Ford announces conditional amnesty for US Vietnam War deserters and draft evaders
 
24th -  Al Kaline of the Detroit Tigers becomes the 12th player in MLB history to get 3,000 hits
 
25th - The first modern triathlon, an endurance multisport race, took place in the U.S. at Mission Bay in San Diego, California.
 
25th - Scientists first report that freon gases from aerosol sprays are destroying the ozone layer
 
28th – Nolan Ryan of the Angels pitches this 3rd career no-hitter
